Find Advice and Support Services

Your local CVS or other 'second tier' organisation may be able to provide support, advice and training on setting up and running an organisation. Search our directory to find an organisation that can help you.

Managing Your Organisation

  • Just About Managing by Sandy Adirondack. A practical, comprehensive introduction to good management for everyone who has responsibility for organising, co-ordinating or making decisions about a voluntary organisation, team, department or project.
  • Know How Non Profit A website with a wide range of resources to support you in managing not for profit organisations. You can also share your own good practice and learning.
  • NCVO has an online helpdesk and a wide range of information and support for voluntary sector organisations, including Funding Central, a resource for funding support.

Managing People

  • LVSC's HR Support Service, PEACe can provide a range of advice and support in managing people, including sample documents, a telephone helpline,  HR health checks, training and consultancy support to Employment Tribunal level.

Volunteering

  • Your local Volunteer Centre can help with advertising vacancies and supporting good practice. Find your local Volunteer Centre through our Directory of Support Organisations

  • You can also advertise and find volunteering opportunities through the Do-It website

 

  • Volunteering England has a range of resources to support you in managing volunteers.

ICT Support

  • LASA? provides a wide range of support on ICT issues including Circuit Riders, who can provide individual support for your organisation, and a suppliers directory of ICT providers.

Consultancy Support

  • There are many freelance and independent consultants who work with the voluntary and community sector. Two directories which may help:

Probono Support

  • LawWorks provides probono legal advice for voluntary and community sector organisations.
  • Business in the Community - ProHelp - A network of professionals who can provide professional support for voluntary and community sector organisations
  • The Cranfield Trust: Provides free management consultancy for charities and social enterprises

Insurance advice
